Description:
The Cocoon Nebula seen here in natural pink color appears almost as the head of a comet with a long dusty tail against a background of reddish hydrogen. This area is home to some of the youngest stellar objects discovered so far by both the Spitzer Space Telescope and the Chandra X-Ray Telescope. The bright central star powering this nebula is estimated to be only 100,000 years old. The long dusty "tail" is identified as the dark nebula complex Barnard 168. These nebula can be found near the edge of the Cygnus Constellation and stretch some 100ly long.
