Description:
Barnard 174 is an impressive Dark Nebula in Cepheus. Dark nebulae consists of interstellar matter (gas and dust) and absorbs the light of stars behind them. B 174 is an active star forming region and it's cold there: about -263 °C. This wide field image shows more dark nebulae and mainly on the left side of the image, extensions of the bright nebula LBN 474. This results in a redish haze all over the image.
