Description:

Interstellar Comet 3I/ATLAS at the end of September has now sunk into the orange evening twilight. In this image taken 7 degrees above the evening horizon the comet has brightened to magnitude 12.2 with a 0.7' wide coma and a very short fan tail to the left of the coma in this color image. Northern Hemisphere observers will now have to wait about a month until the comet re-emerges from behind the Sun's glare to again observe the comet as it then continues its journey moving away from the Sun, out of our Solar System into other parts of our Milky Way Galaxy.
