Description:
This is Lynds Bright Nebula 691 (NGC 2909), a molecular cloud in the constellation Ursa Major. A molecular cloud is a type of interstellar cloud the density and size of which permit the formation of molecules, most commonly molecular hydrogen (H2). LBN 691 was first catalogued by Lynds in 1965. This image is from data collected from our Backyard Observatory over several weeks time this past month.
