Description:
This is 2nd annotated version of the base image that I've uploaded to the online gallery titled 'Lunar Transit through Earth's Umbra'. I've outlined the full view of Umbra and Penumbra of Earth’s Shadow with the necessary annotations. This composite of 9 images shows end-to-end partial phases with the greatest partial eclipse in the middle. Keyframes taken are 10:12,10:20,10:28,10:36,10:44,10:52,10:59,11:07,11:15. All times in PM EDT of Sep 17, 2024. I referred to Fred Espanak’s geometry diagram in Sep 17/18 Eclipse Page at EclipeWise dot com & oriented my lunar discs accordingly. Referred to the relative size of the Umbra and Penumbral compared to the moon in this diagram and other sources and its 2.7 & 4.8 times the moon’s diameter when the moon was 353,596 km away from Earth
