Description:

Last night I was testing 2 star alignment using the SynScan USB adapter. The sky was mostly cloudy, so I had only planned on doing my alignment test, using the breaks in the clouds, and then putting my gear away. After the test was finished, I went out to break down and I saw the sky was clearing to the west. It was 10:30 pm and a little breezy but I figured, “Why not?” I chose M 104, The Sombrero Galaxy and slewed and centered, to confirm my alignment was good. This target is very low at my location and the waxing moon was very close to it, so I expected nothing decent to come through. After almost 3 years of doing this I’m still often amazed at what can be done on less than perfect nights!
