Description:

The Crab Nebula found in the constellation of Taurus (The Bull) is a stellar supernova remnant. The end results of a star that blew up in 1054 AD. This crabby remnant contains a pulsar. An extremely dense object known as a neutron star that spins 30 times a second and emits a pulse of radiation that can be detected here on Earth by radio telescopes. When such pulsars were first detected it was thought they could be signals from some alien life form! This image taken from our observatory in Van Alstyne Texas was captured last Sunday night and is the result of 30 - 300 second subs through a 12 inch RC telescope equipped with a QHY-367C color camera.
