Messier 13 is a large globular cluster, about 145 light years in diameter, consisting of several hundred thousand stars, and located 25,100 light years from Earth. It is easy to find in the constellation Hercules in a low power telescope, even in the light polluted skies of La Jolla! This image, however, was taken remotely from a dark sky site in Mayhill, NM, using using a 150 mm wide field Takahashi telescope and color camera through iTelescope.net, 3 5-minute color images stacked and processed using Nebulosity and GIMP software. M13 is about 145 light-years in diameter, and is 25,100 light-years away from Earth.
