Description:
This is a 2-panel mosaic of the great Andromeda galaxy, approximately 2.5 million light years away. Each of the two panels that make up this image consist of 12+ hours of full-colour data, plus an additional 12+ hours each of hydrogen alpha data, so as to highlight the hydrogen-rich star formation regions (in pinkish-red), for a combined 49+ hours of integration time.
