Description:

I like the M51 in wide-field in particular because of the bright star nearby. Sometimes the designation M51 is used to refer to the pair of galaxies, in which case the individual galaxies may be referred to as M51a (NGC 5194) and M51b (NGC 5195) and they are interacting. This time I am combining my data from the 8" F/4 Newtonian as well as the EDGE8 to create this clear version of M51 wide-field. Total integration time is about 14 hours from Bortle 7 backyard in Southern Ontario. Hope you like it. Exposures: 114x180s + 40x300s (8”F/4 Newtonian) + 90x180s (EDGE8); 20 Darks 30 Flats Camera: ASI294MC-Pro CGEM-DX
