Description:

Good things come in small packages. I normally pass on capturing smaller targets since there’s usually very little detail to see in the final image. However, armed with my L-Extreme filter and my Nexus 0.75x reducer/coma corrector, I’m revisiting all my old targets and adding in some of the ones I passed on last year, just to see what’s hiding in that data. I picked a new one, for me, M76, The Little Dumbbell Nebula, also known as Messier 76, NGC 650/651, the Barbell Nebula, or the Cork Nebula. The size of this target is less than 3 arc minutes … small. Seeing and transparency were below average, and the almost full moon was lighting up the sky, adding light pollution issues to my already bright telescope site. I’m glad I tried! I’m very pleased with what came out
