Description:

Here is a picture of a Galaxy Cluster known as Markarian's Chain. This is not the entire cluster, but includes a section centered around M86 (The large galaxy in the center of the picture). Markarian's Chain is part of the Virgo cluster of galaxies in the constellation of Virgo. It is named after Armenian astrophysicist, B. E. Markarian, who discovered their common motion in the early 1960s. The galaxies in this picture include M86 (in the center), then counter clockwise from the left side of the image are NGC4438, NGC4435, NGC4402, M84, NGC4387, NFC4388, NGC 4413, and NGC4425.
