Description:

Mars in opposition. Images made from mid July (8 arc seconds) to December 1th, closest approach to Earth (17.2 arc seconds). The image shows the evolution from "waxing" Mars to "full" Mars. It also shows the development of ice clouds over the north pole, which are now very prominent.
