Description:

The Crab Nebula (catalogue designation Messier 1) is a supernova remnant and pulsar wind nebula in the constellation Taurus. The name comes from a drawing that somewhat resembled a crab produced by William Parsons, 3rd Earl of Rosse, in 1842, using a 36-inch telescope. The nebula was discovered by English astronomer John Bevis in 1731. The nebula was the first astronomical object identified that corresponds with a historically-observed supernova explosion, observed in 1054 AD by Mayan, Japanese, and Arab stargazers, and recorded by Chinese astronomers as a "guest star," so bright that it was visible in the daytime. Processing combined Foraxx and RGB palettes.
