Description:
The attached image is of the Great Orion Nebula shot from the light-polluted Bortle 6-7 skies of Del Mar, California. Two dual narrow-band filters were used, SII + OIII and Ha + OIII, with approximately 3 hours imaging time on each filter for 6 hours total acquisition time. The subs were stacked and processed in PixInsight. Instead of using the artificial-looking Hubble palette, I aimed for a realistic depiction of the nebula. The average OIII image was applied to the green and blue channels while the sum of the SII and Ha signal was applied to the red channel.
