Description:
Stock 2 is a bright and extended open cluster visible in the constellation Cassiopeia. Although it is a fairly conspicuous object, no astronomer appears to have taken an interest in it until the mid-20th century, when it was recognized as an open cluster by a group of astronomers and added to astronomer Jurgen Stock's list of 24 open clusters. Science writer Phil Harrington described it as having the appearance of a man flexing his muscles; since then, it has sometimes been nicknamed the Muscleman Cluster.
