Description:

NGC 2359 Thor’s Helmet: The name comes from its distinctive shape, which resembles a Viking helmet with wings on either side. This shape is formed by a bright central star surrounded by a bubble of gas and dust. The central star is a Wolf-Rayet star, one of the most massive and hottest types of stars known to exist. It is thought to have expelled the material that makes up the bubble through intense stellar winds and a series of violent explosions.
