Description:
NGC 2359 (also called Thor's Helmet Nebula) is a beautiful nebula produced by a dying star. The bubble-shaped filaments in the centre are made by a Wolf-Rayet star (WR7) shredding its outer layers. The radiation from the star energised the materials, causing them to glow. The star will soon have its final ending in a spectacular supernova explosion; what we are seeing in the image is its last cosmic swansong.
