Description:

NGC 40-Bow-Tie- planetary nebula measures about 1 light-year across and formed around 30,000 years ago.It is located approximately 5810 light-years away from us [GAIA EDR3]. It appears relatively often in astrophotographs; however, it is not the main subject in them. This is due to the remnants of the CTA 1 supernova stretching across that region, which can be captured using long exposure times and appropriate narrowband filters.
