Description:

NGC 4565 (also known as the Needle Galaxy) is an edge-on spiral galaxy about 40 million light-years away in the constellation Coma Berenices, and 100,000 light-years across. It was first described in 1785 by William Herschel. It's very bright, which proved helpful as I only had about 2 hours of imaging 2 nights ago before the clouds moved in. NGC 4565 has at least two interacting satellite galaxies, one of which is faintly visible below and left of it in this image.
