Description:

Last night was unexpectedly clear, so I set up to capture NGC 4631, The Whale Galaxy, and NGC 4656, The Hockey Stick Galaxy. Both galaxies are about 30 million light years away and my FOV lets me capture both in one image. The night was a little breezy and I lost about 25% of my subs but I’m very pleased with the result. It’s my 3rd attempt in 2 ½ years for this target, and the only time I got a decent image. Using NINA and including the star count and eccentricity values in my filenames, I was easily able to clean out the bad subs as they came in, which makes the processing much quicker.
