Description:

NGC 5084 is a supermassive lenticular galaxy about 80 million light years away. It is one of the most massive disk galaxies known in the Virgo Supercluster. It is about three times larger than our own Milky Way. There is an abundance of HI (neutral atomic hydrogen) gas extending along the disk probably a result of accretion of smaller galaxies.
