Description:
M4 (NGC 6121) at approximately 7,200 light years away is one of the closest star clusters to our Solar System. It's very near the bright orange star Antares, which is the heart of Scorpio, currently high in the Southwest in our early night sky. Very faintly seen, near the top left in this image, is another star cluster, NGC 6144. Image is from our deck a couple of nights ago through a 72 mm refracting telescope and consists of 4 one minute exposures at ISO 3200, stacked and processed with PixInsight software.
