Description:
NGC 6543, the “Cat’s Eye” nebula, is a beautiful blue-green planetary nebula located about 3,300 light years away. It was the first planetary nebula to have its spectrum observed. Paired with the ASI585MC, my AT92 has just about enough reach to start getting some interesting detail, and I additionally captured several thousand short exposures to achieve a higher level of detail in the extremely bright core. This image consists of 19+ hours of HaOIII from an L-eXtreme filter, combined with an hour of RGB stars from an L-Pro filter. Imaged over 10 days in June & July 2025.
