Description:
NGC 7023 is a reflection nebula - light from the star HD 200775 is reflected and scattered by nearby dust, appearing predominantly blue (a similar process causes the sky above us to appear blue as well). In addition to the blue glow, though, there are reddish areas which indicate the possible presence of hydrocarbons. I collected over 18 hours of data for this image over 7 nights in August & September, 2024.
