Description:

This animated gif shows the image taken by the Long-Range Reconnaissance Imager (LORRI) on board of the New Horizons spacecraft in April 2020 in comparison with an image taken just a few hours before from Earth. The parallax of Wolf 359 is clearly detected. This yields an accurate direct distance measurement of the star within only 65s of total integration time.
