Description:
After helping out about 20 Grand Canyon North Rim visitors take a cell phone image of the Milky Way during the Grand Canyon Star Party, I did some of my own more serious Milky Way photography. After sunset on June 27 while waiting for the star party to begin, I took a focus stack of foreground images from the veranda to later blend with a stack of sky images I would take later that night, after the star party ended. Little did I know that this would be the last time I would be able to photograph here, at least for a while, after the destruction of the Grand Canyon Lodge on the morning of July 13 as the Dragon Bravo Fire reached the North Rim.
