Description:
Viewing from Alameda, California, the moon set over the landmarks of San Francisco while still partially eclipsed. For an instant, the moon seemed to rest atop Coit tower, just before it descended behind the hilltops of the Marin Headlands to the northwest. The reddish hue was due to the typical atmospheric scattering and was not the result of the umbral shadow of Earth. The moon had mostly moved out from behind the umbral shadow by this point, save for a small sliver on the right.
