Description:

The Pelican Nebula is a Hydrogen II emission nebula in the constellation Cygnus. Cataloged as IC 5070, this nebula lies right next to the North America Nebula (photographed and posted in this space a week or two ago). The Pelican Nebula contains an active mix of star formation and evolving gas clouds, which, over the next millions of years, will continue to evolve, and likely no longer resemble a Pelican.
