Description:

I decided to do a practice session for the total eclipse of the Sun using the same gear I intend to use on 4/8. The full Moon is comparable in brightness to the solar corona. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed watching the penumbral eclipse progress during the evening. The part of the limb closest to the umbra was the darkest. I could see it change position during the night with the unaided eye. This image was taken 10 minutes before mid-eclipse.
