Description:

Very complex crater. Its internal walls are steep and irregular, with a rough appearance. It has a depth of 3.4 km and its floor was covered by lava. It has a central system of mountains with multiple peaks. A narrow depression or channel (created in the past, when basaltic lava flowed through fractures in the crust), starts in the central mountains of the crater and crosses its inner floor towards its southwestern edge. This channel is known as Rimae Petavius and is 82 km long.
