Description:
The "Pi Day Total Lunar Eclipse" by KAS President Richard Bell. This shot is a 6-second exposure at ISO 200 with a Canon 6D. It was taken at maximum eclipse at ~3am ET from the Kalamazoo Nature Center. Other equipment includes a 130mm Stellarvue refractor on an Astro-Physics Mach1GTO mount. Adobe Photoshop was used for processing and cropping. Notice the two stars above and right of the Moon. Those are HIP56388 and HIP56376. Their distances are fairly different (1,254 ly vs. 786 ly), so it's only an optical double and not a true binary system.
