Description:

RCW 35 (Gum 18) has loose, stretched filaments that, to me, look like wings or flocks mid-motion, especially because they’re not anchored to a single bright core. Since the gas is being pushed and pulled by multiple nearby stars instead of one central source, the shapes end up asymmetric and directional, giving the whole region a sense of motion—like birds in flight rather than a single, static nebula.
