Description:
The location was at the end of the Kaikoura Peninsula, on an intertidal rocky shelf inhabited by a NZ fur seal colony and many Red Billed Gulls. The heavy sea mist prevented capturing the initial appearance of the eclipse, but the faint, ghostly moon was suddenly apparent above the mist and was followed as it moved through the scene.
