Description:

This is the Amazing Sunset at Medicine Rock State Park, Montana, USA. The mentioned state park has the Bortle 1 of the night bortle scale. It is in this park that I saw the airglow and lots of planets are really gleaming like diamond in the night sky. I witnessed also our home galaxy the Milky Way shining so brightly in this particular park. I usually set up my telescope before sundown for me not to stumble in dark. Then after setting up my telescope I also set up the tripod of my regular camera. Then I noticed this moon before the dark night totally covers the horizon. So I used my canon 5Ds with EF800mm f/5.6L IS USM +1.4x III teleextender because the subject is quite far and I want a more zoom in of the moon and the rocks. What I did was I captured 15 frames and stitch those frames to come up with this 1 big panorama photo. Medicine Rock State Park has soft sandstone rock formation a Swiss cheese look providing a fascinating landscape filled with meaning and serenity. Visitors can witness thousands of inscriptions on the sandstone pillars dating back centuries. (google description) This park is named for the “Medicine Rocks” a group of 60-80-tall sandstone pillars with naturally formed spooky undulations, tunnels, and holes. There are numerous fossils found in the park like snakes as well as Plesiadapis anceps teeth all dating 64.3 million years. For me the park is one great place to reconnect to the past and to watch the serenity of sunsets and sunrises, and as International Dark Sky Sanctuary this is one of the places to bring to light of something in the deep dark sky and share this beauty to the world.
