Description:

This image was a collaborative effort between Walt Lickteig and Steve Timmons. This mosaic was created from 4-panels and subsequently merged and processed in PixInsight with the final editing tweaks in Photoshop. Three hundred-and-thirty one, 1200-second subframes were collected from January 26 through April 10 in 2022. The average integration time per panel was just over 27-1/2 hours or just over 110 hours for the entire mosaic. The remotely operated telescope system is hosted at the Dark Sky Observatory Collaborative (DSOC) located near Fort Davis, Texas - approximately six miles from McDonald Observatory. The full-size image is 7,241 W x 7,383 H pixels and covers nearly 1-1/2° by 1-1/2° of the sky.
