Description:

It's that time of year when I decided to harm me by trying to shoot a dark nebula from the terrible sky at home. This time I chose an object at the limit of my possibilities, the so-called Rotten Fish Nebula in the constellation Cepheus. It is not among the most beautiful images that can be seen but I am quite satisfied with the result, considering that by measuring the lights with ASTAP I get an SQM between 17.5 and 18.4 which translated into Bortle scale means between 7 and 9!!! LDN 1251 is a complex nebula, containing both dark and reflection structures, nicknamed the Rotten Fish Nebula. The acronym “LDN” refers to Lynd's Catalog of Dark Nebulae, whose entries were identified by examining red and blue images from the Palomar Sky Atlas Observatory. LDN 1251 is quite close to us, abo
