Description:

I was on the rim of Bryce Canyon doing a sunset to sunrise time lapse sequence with my D600 and 14mm lens on a modified equatorial mount. I was bored out of my mind and decided to try some stills with my other camera while I waited for sunrise. I was stumbling around in the dark when I spotted this tree. This tree had loads of character and the Milky Way had become a nearly vertical band bisecting the sky. Even in the dark I could see the outline of the tree backlit by the Milky Way. I was struck by the way that lone branch appeared to be reaching to touch the Milky Way. I tried to take that picture.
