Description:
A first attempt at capturing the shape of the earth's shadow, using frames from the partial lunar eclipse which occured on the night of July 16/17. For this composite I used 7 frames at approximately equal intervals to and from the time of greatest eclipse (00:31UT, mid frame) and displayed them in such a way as to illustrate the circular shape of the complete shadow of the Earth. The frames advance in real time from right to left and also show the actual path of the Moon through the umbra, as observed on the sky.
