Description:
NGC 246, also known as the Skull Nebula or Caldwell 56, is a small planetary nebula located in the constellation Cetus. What makes this nebula special is its unique shape and appearance, resembling a skull floating in space. The eerie skull-like shape is the result of the central star illuminating the surrounding gas, creating a cavity in the shape of two hollow eyes and a central hole reminiscent of a nasal cavity.
