Description:
NGC 3114 is a bright open cluster located in the southern Milky Way, in the constellation of Carina, and is visible to the naked eye. NGC 3114 is a rather rich and extensive cluster, with about 200 stars brighter than magnitude 12. Its distance is estimated at around 2970 light-years, placing it on the inner edge of the Orion Arm and well beyond the edges of the Gum Nebula.
