Location of Photo:
Pointe Aux Barque Lighthouse, Port Hope, MI
Date/Time of photo:

Equipment:
I used my Canon 6D, Tamron 17-35f/2.8-f/4.0 at f/2.8, 17mm, ISO 6400, 20sec, on a sturdy Sirui carbon-fiber tripod.
Description:
When there is no moon and the light pollution is too distant, the night sky comes alive. Off in the distance it is possible to capture a faint glow of the northern lights. In addition to also capturing a bright winter Milky Way, I saw a pattern in the distance when editing my photo, and realized I'd caught the aurora off in the distance.
