Description:

On 2024/03/25 a bright, type Ia Supernova was discovered by ATLAS Telescopes in ESO285-G48 (aka PGC 65299), mag. 13.731. Using ASTAP (V50 database), the estimated magnitude on 2024 April 9 is 14.4. PGC 65299 is an emission SBc galaxy about 104.89 million light-years from us, visible from the austral hemisphere in the Constellation Indus. Due to its location, I used a remote telescope service. The image is the sum of 20 sub-frames of 300” (5 x each LRGB filter). Credits Data: Telescope Live Processing: Massimo Marchini
