Description:
The Crab Nebula (Messier 1), located 6500 light years from Earth, in the constellation Taurus, is the remnant of a supernova, a star which exploded, creating a very bright light as it ejected mass. The likely spectacular event was described by Chinese astronomers in the year 1054 AD, the first documentation of a Supernova.
