Description:

The Elephant Trunk Nebula, the dark nebula to the left, is often referred to as IC 1396a, but that is actually the emission nebula in the background against which the Elephant trunk is silhouetted. The correct designation of the Elephant Trunk Nebula itself is Lynds Dark Nebula 1105. To the right of the Elephant Trunk is Lynds Dark Nebula 1093. I call this the Napoleon on Horseback Nebula. You can see the profile of Napoleon's face with a French military hat on top of his head. He has a long flowing cape blowing in the wind behind him. In front of him is the profile of the head and neck of his horse, which even has a long outstretched front leg with a flat hoof on the bottom. Exposures: Ha:R:G:B = 600:35:30:30 minutes =0.5 hours 11 hours, 35 minutes total exposure, completely unguided.
