Description:
The Elephant Trunk is a small but dramatic part of the much larger IC 1396. The trunk is defined by both dark and light sections and an open but colorful background lets it stand out. This image was created with approximately 4.5 hours of data with SHO narrowband filters and a monochrome camera.
