Description:
25 million light years, the Fireworks Galaxy's core glows gold from old, yellow stars, while its blue and red arms pop with younger, hotter stars. In the past century, the galaxy has experienced 10 supernovae, giving further validity to its name. Open cluster NGC 6939, only 5000 light years away, nicely balances the frame in the bottom right corner. Image specs: Shot through Baader LRGB filters, 15 hours 24 minutes total integration
