Description:

J HERSCHEL is an ancient, large and worn-out impact crater ("walled plain") located on the northern part of the Moon's surface. The rim of this crater has been heavily eroded to the point that it is often described as "considerably disintegrated". The remaining edge survives like a ring of ridges that have been cut out by subsequent impacts. The internal floor is relatively flat, but irregular and marked by an infinity of small impacts
