Description:

Moon, Mars, and the Beehive Cluster on May 3rd, 2025. The Beehive cluster, aka Praesepe or M44, is one of the nearest open cluster to Earth. It is located in the Cancer constellation near the ecliptic. Last night, the Moon and Mars (the red spot) were both very close to the cluster visible at the bottom. The bright blue star above Mars and next to the Moon is Asellus Borealis (gamma Cancri). Canon EOS R6, Sigma APO 135-400mm set to 400mm f/5.6. Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer 2i tracker. Star field taken on April 29, 2025 (without Moon glare), 8x30s, 3200 ISO. Mars and the Moon were taken on May 3, 2025, 10pm PDT. Various exposure times from 1/400s to 20s, 800 ISO were blended together to enhance dynamic range. Processed in DeepSkyStacker and Affinity Photo.
