Description:

For many years, Polaris has just been a tool for me, until I recently realized it can also be a goal. Indeed, hours of exposure with a 135mm telephoto lens aimed at Polaris revealed a surprisingly rich field, filled with a beautiful integrated flux nebula (Mandel-Wilson 1), an open cluster (NGC 188), a couple of small galaxies in interaction (NGC 2300 & 2276) and the northernmost galaxy, Polarissima Borealis (NGC 3172). Canon EOS R6 astro-modified, Rokinon 135mm f/2. Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer 2i tracker. Field of view: 10x15deg. 645x60s, ISO 3200, no filter. 10h45 of total exposure in 2 nights (April 21 & 23, 2025). Bortle 4 sky. Processed with DeepSkyStacker, StarNet and Affinity Photo.
